I get much more than 2 cooks per box. I'm not sure if its the difference between RJ and Dennis product, but I probably get 4 to 6 cooks per box, depending on what it is.
I take out the unburned stuff after each cook, when i switch back over to lump, though.
...or maybe its just that Dennis loaded an accurate weight in each package _________________

Yep, the KK is much tighter than my old K7, using less fuel as it goes and stops the fire on a dime.
I have exactly Firemonkey's pattern, alternating between coconut and hardwood lump. I've ordered a second charcoal basket to facilitate swaps with less handling and breakage. Figure it'll pay for itself. |

| Well I'm talking a 17-20 hour cook now, and I don't bother with taking the old stuff out unless its not burnt at all. This is the original "good" stuff. The best that has ever been produced by anyone. (The stuff Dennis is trying so hard to get a supplier to replicate). I'm bummed I only have two boxes left, may never see this quality again. Hopefully Dennis will eventually get a supplier to do it right. Then I need some Georgians to come together to get a big shipment. |

I've got about 1.75 boxes left myself. Needless to say, they are kept only for research purposes.... _________________ The Naked Whiz

Extruded coconut charcoal in town |
|
|
| I dont know if anyone has tried this but the extruded coconut charcoal is available at your local tobacco shop. It is used for hookas and at hooka bars to keep the tabacco lit. You might be able to work a deal with the owner to get a case price. I understand it is a very high grade and you dont have to pay for shipping. |

Prices on Amazon for hookah charcoal seem to range from about $5 to $10 a pound. The aFire charcoal can be had for about $1.50 to $2.50 a pound on Amazon, so I'd think that would be the better option. Any idea what the hookah charcoal costs in a shop? _________________ The Naked Whiz

Coconut Charcoal |
|
|
| I will never be able to use the Coconut charcoal, but from what every one says it must be great. It sounds like a potential business, if done in the U.S. and a decent marketing plan is put in place. |

While waiting for Dennis to produce KK brand coconut charcoal, here is a temporary solution. There is an extruded coconut charcoal of a very neutral flavor that can be found in grocery stores. It is called aFire. It can be hard to spot, because it is in a green box, not a bag, and may be higher up on a shelf than where you might expect. Look around in the BBQ and grilling section, it might be next to the tongs or aprons or some other unexpected place. Here in Texas, Albertson's has it. Or:

I've got a box of aFire (you can also find it online) and I'll be testing it towards the end of the month. Should be fun. _________________ The Naked Whiz
